Occupation Permit as an Investor
If you are a non-citizen and you intend to invest in or through Mauritius via a Mauritian company, you can apply for an Occupation Permit as an Investor under four options:
1. Normal
Conditions
1.
In process of setting up a company in Mauritius
2.
An initial investment USD 50,000
3.
Criteria for renewal: Generate a minimum gross income of MUR 4M per year as from 3rd year of registration
Validity of permit: The permit is valid for 10 years and renewable subject to satisfying the criteria
Permanent Residence Permit (PRP)
Holder of an Occupation Permit as Investor for at least 3 years may apply for a 20-year PRP provided the specific conditions are met.
2. Net Asset Value
Conditions
1.
Net asset value of at least USD 50,000 an existing business or a business inherited, with a cumulative turnover of at least MUR 12 million during the 3 years preceding the application
2.
Criteria for renewal: Generate a minimum gross income of MUR 4M per year as from 3rd year of registration
Validity of permit: The permit is valid for 10 years and renewable subject to satisfying the criteria
3. High Technology Machines & Equipment
Conditions
1.
An initial investment of USD 50,000 of which:
- a minimum transfer of at least USD 25,000 from abroad to the bank account of the company in Mauritius; and
- the equivalent of the remaining value in high technology machines and equipment, subject to certain criteria
2.
Criteria for renewal: Generate a minimum gross income of MUR 4M per year as from 3rd year of registration
Validity of permit: The permit is valid for 10 years and renewable subject to satisfying the criteria
4. Investor for innovative start-ups with no investment
Conditions
1.
Submission of an innovative project with at least 20% Research & Development
2.
Criteria for renewal: As per the conditions that may be determined by the Chief Executive Officer of the EDB
Validity of permit: The permit is valid for 10 years and renewable subject to satisfying the criteria
NOTE: The Dependents of an Occupation Permit as Investor are eligible to apply for a Residence Permit.
Dependents are defined as spouse (including Common Law Partner of the opposite sex), parents, and dependent children including stepchildren or lawfully adopted children who are unmarried and not engage in any gainful activity. Residence permit, allowing them to live in Mauritius for the same duration as the main holder.
INVESTMENT USD 375,000
If you are a non-citizen and you intend to do investment in Mauritius, you will be eligible for a Permanent Residence Permit.
Conditions
1.
Minimum investment of USD 375,000 in a qualifying business activity
2.
Qualifying activities: Agro-based industry, Audio-visual, Cinema and Communication, Banking, Construction, Education, Environment-friendly and green energy products, Financial Services, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Freeport, Information Technology, Infrastructure, Insurance, Leisure, Manufacturing, Marina development, Tourism and Warehousing, Initial Public Offerings.
Validity of permit: Residency permit valid for 20 years
